Box Hill Specialist Disability Accommodation

Box Hill SDA is a new home to be shared by 4 friends and/ or family, complete with OOA facilities designed in accordance with NDIS standards. It was also important to ‘futureproof’ each space to ensure all spaces could adapt to provide a higher level of accessibility should the residents needs change over time. A strong element of flexibility also drove the project, enabling the dwelling to be split into two separate units in time if the residents desired. The home is designed to be robust and low maintenance, with passive home principles to help keep operating costs down. Careful planning and simple construction methods help ensure the initial build cost is economical. The form and material palette are a contemporary design but draw on and are sympathetic to the existing established neighbourhood.
